disappointed...
I am writing from my phone so this is going to be short... The retrieval went fine and I have been sleeping all morning. The docs only got twelve eggs. Out of the fifty follicles they got twelve. He said he was completely suprised by that number as well. He said this is all because of that pretty big drop in estrogen that I had. Ugh. I asked him about the quality and he said it could have been affected but he really couldn't say. I was a little drugged up, but I kind of felt like he wasn't telling me everything... but that could just be me thinking too much. I am suprisingly not having a lot of pain or cramping... but I am getting a pretty bad headache. I guess it is time for another nap. I'll know more when they call me tomorrow....

Thinking of you. I know 12 is disappointing given the number of follicles you had and all you've gone through to get them. I would feel the same way. It's still a great number. My RE is hoping for 10-12. It's all about quality, not quantity. Sending thoughts and prayers your way and hoping for the best with tomorrow's report!
12 eggs is still really good. I mean, compared to 50 follicles, it doesn't seem like much, and it's only because you have that huge number to go off of that you're disappointed. For my ER, I had like 34 follicles, but only 16 mature eggs. So, it's normal to not be retrieve as much. Chin up! You have a dozen eggs to make you a baby...I think that's great!!!
12 really is a good number. The fact that they survived that drop may very well mean that they were the best 12 anyway and would have beenthe ones to fertilize even if you'd gotten 50 eggs retrieved. Don't feel bad.
i know it's not what you expected, but 12 is a great number! i'm glad you're taking it easy. i hope you feel better tomorrow. crossing my fingers that they'll all fertilize!

I'm sorry that you didn't get what you had hoped for, but I hope that the 12 you do have turn out to be winners. 12 is a pretty darned good number in general. FX for your fert report!
