First I just want to say - thanks for all the positive vibes from everyone so far! I love ICLW (even though its my first!)...
I had quite a scare on Friday. I had gone to see Water for Elephants (not as good as I had hoped, but I think it is because I read the book) with a friend. We did some shopping first, ate (a big) lunch, and then saw the movie. During the movie I developed this sharp pain in my right lower abdomen that radiated around my side into my lower back. I kept trying to change position during the movie, but everytime I did, I would just end up with shooting pain on that right side. I tried to get up to go to the bathroom, but I couldn't even stand up straight because of the pain. After hobbling to the bathroom, sat on the toilet and almost burst into tears. I was more anxious about it being close to three on a rainy Friday afternoon, knowing there was no way I would be able to make it to the RE's office which was 45min away before they closed (if I try to get to the office any time after 1pm - it usually takes me close to two hours because of traffic). After I peed (sorry if TMI), I sat there for a little bit longer and then the pain was gone! Whew. Scare diverted. I decided not to call the office since I was going Saturday morning anyways. When I told the doctor about my little episode at the movies, she said it sounded exactly like ovarian torsion, and probably since my bladder was full it was pushing on my ovaries and turning them just enough to cause excruciating pain. So new order from the doc- no full bladders and no bending and lifting, and definitely no exercise!
As far as the appointment goes- everything is right on schedule. Since they lowered my meds to just one Menopur and one Ganirelix a day, I've just been coasting. I have close to 20 follicles on my right ovary with my lead ones measuring about 16-17s and my left one has about 15 follicles with my lead ones 15-16. Plan is to continue my Menopur and Ganirelix and *hopefully* trigger Monday night with retrieval tentatively scheduled for Wednesday. She talked to my about how I am very high risk for OHSS because of the amount of follicles I have. She said instead of the Pregnyl tirgger, we may do another one that might lower my risk of OHSS... She said we'll take everything day by day. I'm just hoping with that many eggs we can at least get some good sperms!! I asked my husband if he thought he had that many sperm and we laughed about it. I don't really think he quite gets everything that is happening... he is pretty aloof when it comes to anything medical and leaves it all up to me. To tell you just how clueless my husband is (this is one of my favorite stories, btw), when we first started dating my husband developed what we now know is eczema. At first we didn't know what it was and he only had it on his elbows. I looked at him in all seriousness and said, Babe- I think you might have elbow herpes... and then we both laughed (so I thought he knew I was joking)... Needless to say, I find out later that he really thought he had elbow herpes and had been googling it and even asked his doctor about it... Never again will I give him credit for medical stuff! :)

I hope you don't mind I just started following your blog :) I almost cried because I was laughing so hard about the "elbow herpes" story, Haha! I'm glad your pain went away, that had to be really scary!
that's a lot of follies! i hope everything progresses well, with no threat of OHSS.
i had to share the "elbow herpes" story with my husband, because it was so hilarious! we were both cracking up.
so excited to follow y'all through your journey!
That's a lot of follies!!! You are getting so close:) And for the elbow herpes.... Hahaha.... Glad that all worked out for him:)
Oh my gosh, that is so hilarious :) but, it is so scary that you had all that pain from your ovaries. i hope it doesn't happen again. glad your RE knew what was most likely going on though.
DH and I also have MFI, we've done a bunch of IUIs and are now seriously considering IVF. I'll definitely be following your journey. good luck!!
Yikes... I'm so glad the pain subsided, and I hope the mandated steps to take it easy help. What a great count! Best of luck with your retrieval!!!
Drink lots of Gatorade to help ward off OHSS. I had over 40 follies and had 41 eggs retrieved, so I was at a HUGE risk for OHSS. I was never officially diagnosed with it, but I'm pretty sure I had a mild case. Gatorade was my best friend. It helped rid my body of the fluid so much better than water. Now granted I absolutely hate it now because I drank so much, but it did its job! Good luck!
ha!!! why did you do that to him!! he was all traumatized. lol hllarious. thanksfor visiting me. i'm following you now. and please whatever you do start drinkng water and gatorade like a maniac from the time you trigger. i lallgagged andwound up with hospitalized with ohss. it's not cool...it's definitely worse than elbow herpes.
