May ICLW

Hello ICLW visitors! This is my second time doing this since I haven't been blogging very long.

My husband and I were diagnosed with Severe MFI and given pretty much a <1% chance of ever conceiving on our own. We just completed our first failed IVF cycle. Since I am only 27 and haven't been diagnosed with any issues that would prevent us from conceiving - I responded too well from the meds. They were extremely concerned for OHSS and was pretty much coasted on meds from day five. The day of my trigger I had close to fifty follicles, but my e2 levels dropped extremely low and they almost canceled my cycle. After my trigger shot my e2 came up enough for retrieval, but they we're only able to get 12 poor quality eggs. Unfortunantly bad eggs and bad sperm equals poor quality embryos. We are now gearing up for our second cycle hopefully starting in June.

A little about me... I grew up in Tennessee. I absolutely LOVE college football. My team is the Tennessee Volunteers. I bleed orange. My lab even has a Tennessee cheer outfit. After graduating nursing school- I randomly on a spur- moved to Maryland and have been an ICU nurse for five years. I met my husband here and we married in Nov. 2007. We have a yellow lab named Sidney after S.idney C.rosby on the P.ittsbur.gh Pe.guins. She is our spoiled rotten daughter. I enjoy running and being outside! It is my goal to run a half marathon! Ever since our diagnosis I have wanted to become a fetility nurse. I feel like with my experience it would make me a better nurse and support for those also going through infertility treatments.

Anyways. That's pretty much it. Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a good weekend!

My clinic is hiring right now! Full time day RN, some weekends. Of course, we're in Utah which is a far commute for you. But let me know if you want more details!

I didn't know you had a Lab! I want a dog. My husband doesn't want to take care of one but says I can get one. I'm waiting till I'm done with school so I can properly care for one. Labs have a ton of energy though...I might go for a spaniel instead. But a good, 50-ish pound dog is my dream dog. :)

It takes special people to be nurses, and good ones at that. I'm so thankful that the nurses I've come in contact with through this journey have been understanding of the many phone calls they receive from me. :)

Happy ICLW and thanks for visiting my blog! That stinks about your IVF cycle being a bust. Hopefully the doctors' learned and can get better results for your next time.

Hello fellow TN-er and MFI. Same boat here! We have not branched to IVF but I fear it will be our next/only option. We're scheduling another SA this month to find out.

Good luck on this next cycle - I look forward to reading how it goes.

I know I have told you this before, but I too would love to be an infertility nurse. Sucks that the nearest clinic is 1.5 hours away! Ugh!

I just wanted to give you guys some hope. My hubby had complete azoospermia (0 sperm) when we started TTC. His condition meant that it was treatable with hormones. It took us 4 IVFs to get our BFP, but we are now 13 weeks pregnant with twins. Hold onto your hope and obvious optimism. This journey is tough and at times really sucks, but IVF with ICSI really can work for you.
